UCC27712-Q1: High-Side Gate Driver with 100% Duty Cycle

Part Number: UCC27712-Q1

Hello,

I'm looking for a high-side gate driver that can deal with a range of about 100 to 200 V and support 100% duty cycle. I cannot find an exact device, however, I guess UCC27712-Q1 is a close solution if a constant voltage is supplied to its high-side floating supply by such means as flyback converter.

Questions

  • Is it OK not to use the low-side driver of the UCC27712-Q1?
  • If yes, how should pins related to the low-side driver (LI and LO) be handled on PCB?
  • Can a back-to-back MOSFET be used for the high-side driver?

Best regards,
Shinichi Yokota

  • Hi Yokota-san,

    Great to hear from you!

I believe the UCC27712-Q1 could be used as you suggested without issue. I assume automotive grade is required?

If not, here is a TIDA which could be modified to meet your needs: www.ti.com/.../TIDA-01160

If you're not using the low-side driver, I would recommend grounding LI and leave LO floating.

Tie the HS pin to the sources of the back to back mosfets. I assume you are trying to essentially make a solid-state relay to handle an AC signal?
