BQ40Z50: Looking for Battery monitoring and protection system for Non rechargeable 4x AA alkaline batteries in series

Hi,

We have a product which has 4 xAA Alkaline battery connected in series to get 3.6- 6V as output.

But we are facing issue when one batteries got some issue and start draining other good battery also very fast.

We are looking for a part which can monitor health of all four batteries and if found issue with one of them, if it can bypass or short that battery,so that circuit can still continue to work on rest of three batteries.

Not sure if BQ40z50 can satisfy our requirement. If not can you please suggest some suitable solution from TI.

    Bhupendar,
    No the bq40z50 will not work for you. it is designed for secondary cells and there is no gauge in the market that will by pass a bad cell if a fault is detected with one of them. Alkaline batteries are non-rechargeable cells so if you are looking at a gauge for primary batteries, you will want to consider the bq35100.
