LMR16006Y-Q1: High duty operation

Part Number: LMR16006Y-Q1

Hi,

I am looking for a DCDC for automotive use.
The specification is below.

VIN: 5.5 V to 18 V (40 V load dump)
VOUT: 5 V
IOUT: 30 mA typ, 60 mA max
SW frequency about 2 MHz (I want to operate at 2 MHz even at 30 mA)
The PeakLimit current should be lower, because VIN is a lead battery

I found LMR 16006 Y-Q1.
I would like to check a few things about this device.
The figure below is excerpted from the data sheet.
I want to operate this device at VOUT = 5 V when VIN = 5.5 V. I judged it as possible from the figure, but is it correct?
At this time, can it operate at 2.1 MHz?

Best Regards,

  • Hello Kaji,
This device can operate in input voltage range you specified above.
However when device is in deep dropout the switching frequency will not be 2.1MHz, but some other much lower value.
The figure you are referring to, shows load regulation, but does not guarantee operation at 2.1MHz when in deep dropout.
Based on evaluation board check on bench (at room temperature) you would need ~800mV-1V headroom above set point to operate at 2.1MHz.
    Regards
