BQ24157: BQ24157 can not charge, when battery above 4.25V

Part Number: BQ24157

Hi

Test in below conditions,

1. Let mobile phone shutdown then insert charging head, mobile phone can charge, when battery voltage (fake battery DC power supply) below 4.24v. and increase the battery voltage to 4.25v, 4.26v, 4.27v, 4.28v... Still can charge.

2. Let mobile phone shutdown then insert charging head, mobile phone can not charge, BQ24157 is no charge current, when the battery voltage (fake battery DC power supply) is above 4.25v. Can you help to explain it, thank you

  • Hi Jerry,

Memory location 06 is the safety limit register. Programmed values in the safety limit register exclude higher values from memory locations 02 (battery regulation voltage) and memory location 04 (fast charge current). The default maximum battery regulation voltage in memory location 02 is 3.54V but can only be written up to 4.20V unless the value in memory location 06 is increased. The safety limit register resets and can only be written to 1 time following V(CSOUT) dropping below either 1) V(SHORT) threshold (typ. 2.05 V) if VBUS > V(UVLO) or 2) the digital reset threshold of 2.4 V typical if VBUS < V(UVLO).
