BQ24250: Charging 2 wire Li-Ion Batteries

Hi!

I'm testing the charging module BQ24250 along with the BQ27532-G1.However, I'm not able to charge 2 wire batteries unless I connect an external thermistance

between pack- and ctn. Is there possible then to charge this type of batteries with this package ? If so, what should I do/modify?

Jordi,

If you do not intend to use either of the device's battery temp sensing features then I suggest the following:

Connect the bq24250 TS pin to LDO output to disable its temp sensing function
Use an on board 10kohm resistor instead of thermistor for the bq27532-G1

Sorry for the noob question but, I should then connect the TS pin straight to LDO output?

Moreover, do you know a similar charging solution (both BQ24250 and BQ27532-G1) but

without BGA packages?

Jordi,

You can connect TS directly to LDO output.

The only gauges that control the charger directly like bq25732-G1 are in BGA. There are other gauges in non-BGA packages but they will not control the charger. The bq24250 is available in QFN.
