BQ34110: production programming

Part Number: BQ34110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27500, BQSTUDIO, BQ34Z100, GPCCEDV

Hi,

I'm considering using the BQ34110 in the next iteration of our product. I would like to know in advance about programming the i.c. in a production setting. We prefer to program the golden image into the i.c. in circuit rather than pre-programming it before pcb assembly, so need to know the details of programming it over the I2C bus.

With our current design, which uses the bq27500, there was a useful doc called: "Going to production with the BQ275XX", which described the method. I have not found any similar doc for the bq34110. I see that there is a doc called: "Going to production with the bq34z1xx" (slua665). Would this accurately describe the method needed for the bq34110?

thanks

Jeremy

  • hi Jeremy,
For MP, you can follow that document. The main difference is that the bq34z100 is impedance track device so you have to do learning to obtain qmax and the Ra tables. For bq344110, it is CEDV, so you need to configure the CEDV coefficients properly using our online tool, GPCCEDV and then extract the your dfi file to be programmed on multiple devices. I believe you can also use dffs or bqfs files to program the bq34110. You can extract these type of files using bqstudio and then write code to parse the files onto the gauge using your host controller.
    thanks
