Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50
Per the TI documentation, the bq40z50-R2 firmware added an International Air Transport Association support feature with shutdown and wakeup with charging.
Our product has an externally purchased removable Li-ION battery controlled by the BQ40Z50.
While a battery manufacturer may ship batteries in the IATA shutdown mode, it would seem to be a good idea for our product to allow a battery to be placed in this mode if the customer wanted to in the future.
From my reading of the technical reference, the RSOC of the battery needs to be less than a percentage stored in one register (30% default) and then a command needs to be executed to go to IATA shutdown.
Is it expected that the air transport officials will be checking for this in the near future?
Adding an IATA shutdown feature to the product's software might be valued by some customers who plan to travel by air with our product.
