Recommended Operating Conditions of VDD IGBT or MOSFET

Hi,

Could you tell me about the gate driver for TI products.

Why is the VDD recommended operating range of gate driver like UCC 27712 different between IGBT applications and MOSFET applications?

Hello Yuto,
I am an applications engineer with TI and will work to resolve your concerns. The expected actual use gate drive voltage in MOSFET applications is expected to be from 10V to 12V.
In the case of IGBT applications the gate drive voltage is expected to be likely up to 15V.

Both of the recommended ranges is anticipated to provide margin to the rating.

Our customer are planning to use VDD = 18 V in MOSFET applications, but are they available under the condition?

Hello Yuto,

For the MOSFET applications, we are recommending an operating maximum of 17V VDD. Is there a reason the customer wants to use 18V? Normally 10-12V is adequate to drive a MOSFET to low Rds on.
