UCC28019: The power supply makes noise when powered on or loaded.

Part Number: UCC28019

We are  trying to use UCC28019 to replace another PFC chip. Some problems are encountered during debugging.

Noise is heard when the power supply is powered on or loaded. We measured the input current waveform as shown in the picture.

We are sure that this is not surge current.  The power's noise and waveform's noise appear at the same time.

Then any suggestions on how we can get rid of noises? Thanks.

  • Its difficult to know what is going on since you did not provide a schematic or the design requirements and test conditions.
However I can make a few suggestions.
At startup the pfc circuit will require a bypass diode across the inductor.
This pre-charges the output capacitor and makes for repeatable and reliable startup.
Also you should consider the need for a NTC resistor that limits the initial startup current before the pfc begins control.
Finally I would look at the current rating of your inductor.

    Hope this helps !
