TPS92515-Q1: Parallel Using for over 2A current application

Part Number: TPS92515-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3409, TPS92515

Hello,

Our customer would like to use this device with over 2A current.
Are there any application example of parallel connection?
Can we connect output of 2pcs of TPS92515-Q1 directly? Should we add diode to the output?

I appreciate it if you would help this question.

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • Hello Ryuji-san,

You should be able to connect the outputs together for higher current, it's likely a lot better if you are using output capacitors. But for higher current it might be more practical to use a single LM3409. They are very similar in how they operate but as a controller the LM3409 can easily do much more current.

  • Hi Clint san,

    I appreciate your support.
Since the device is constant current control, there is no possibility that current flow to another TPS92515.
    Is my understanding correct?

  • Hello Ryuji-san,

As long as they have the same input supply that is correct. You just don't want to have one off with a low Vin (lower than the potential output voltage) while the other operates and applies voltage to its output. If that is a possibility then you would want to add diodes.
