BQ24250: Can USB signals (D+/D-) of CPU and TPS24250 D+/D- signal be connected to D+/D- terminal of USB port connector?

Part Number: BQ24250
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3USB221A

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using bq24250. The device has D+/D- terminal to detect BC1.2 adapter. These terminals, D+/D- are connected to USB connetor. Also they system load connected to bq24250 output is a CPU which has USB communication port, D+/D-. The CPU need to communicate to a external device through D+/D- terminal of USB connector. But I think 2pair of D+/D- signal can not be connected to USB terminal. Could you please tell me your advice how to connect both D+/D- pair to external device through one USB connector? Do you have any reference design?

Your repy would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya Nakai.

  • Kazuya,

The bq24250 only uses the D+/D- for the first 1-1.5s after powerup and then go high Z.  If you can prevent your CPU from communicating during this time, there should be no problem.  Some customers add a USB switch like TS3USB221ARSER to disconnect the D+/D- lines from bq24250.

  • Jeff,
Thank you very much for the prompt.
I will answer to the customer question base on your reply and introduce TS3USB221A solution too.

Thank you again and best regards,
    Kazuya Nakai.
