BQ2002: Primary cell charging protection

Hello,

If customer wants to use primary cell and secondary cell mixed in charger, is there any protection method not to charge primary cell?

Customer wants to protect only primary cell when primary cell and secondary cell are in charger at the same time.

Hi Raheem,

Yes, Customer wants to connect 2 cells or more..
Primary cell and secondary cell can be connected together.
Customer wants to know how she can protect primary cell not to charge, at that time.

Nicky,
It is not recommended to parallel charge 2 NiCd or NiMH batteries because Peak Voltage detection is used to determine termination. When you have two batteries in parallel, this is very hard to do as both won't get to the peak voltage at the same time which could cause damage to the batteries.

If customer connected 2 or more cell as serial, is there any method to distinguish primary cell and secondary cell?

If you connect them is series, both cells will be charged.
