Hi Bosheng:

I have read your paper "Are you ready for totem pole PFC", it is a very interesting paper, but I have some questions would like your help:

-For UCD3138 chip used for Totem pole PFC , what is your recommendation for high power application?

-If I use totem pole in high power ccm mode PFC application, is it possible MOSFET body diode reverse recovery and input current with big spikes at AC zero crossing even worse ?

-Where can I find totem pole advanced control algorithm sample code used for avoid current spikes as you mentioned in your paper?

Steven,
UCD3138 is a controller, so the power rating depends on power stage design.
Bosheng can give other answer.

Hi Steven,

Depends on your power level, you can choose single phase or interleaved totem-pole PFC.
For CCM totem-pole PFC, regular MOSFET cannot be used due to the reverse recovery, GaN is a good candidate for this topology.

SiC MOSFET may be OK, however we didn't test it, we use GaN.
What do you mean diode? The PFC main switch and sync switch must be a PWM controlled switch, the 60Hz rectifier can be diodes.

Consider use GaN or Sic MOSFET for PWM control switches, maybe with SiC diode for 60Hz rectifier.
what so you think if I go 3 AC phase if power too big for single phase?

Sure you can do 3-phase totem-pole PFC for high power.
