BQ76920: Low resistance between REGOUT and VSS

Part Number: BQ76920

The IC was not responding so I measured the resistance between REGOUT and VSS and it was < 10 ohms.  What could cause this?  When I originally soldered down the IC there was 3.3V on REGOUT but now it's nearly 0V since it's essentially shorted to ground.

  • There are may ways the pin getting shorted to the GND. By the design, the REGOUT can source in excess of the 20mA and gets out of regulation
~2V and has had no electro-migration issues. The issue you are noting, could be due to a bad solder job or had ESD overstress condition of the pin.

    thanks
