TPS650830: Pullup resistor value for open drain outputs.

Part Number: TPS650830

Why is the value for the pullup resistors for the open drain outputs such as the PCH_PWROK pin so large, 100kohms? Looking at the data sheet that pin should be able to handle 2ma of input current. Is there any draw back to using a smaller value of pullup resistor? I would like to wire and it with another open drain signal from the core supply.

  • Thomas,

Aside from a little bit more power consumption on your pullup line, I don't think it would cause a problem. It might also change the rise/fall time as well but I don't think that would be a problem either. Our device expert can comment on this if he has other thoughts.

    Thanks,
    Nick
