TPS763: The current limit is 0.5A (MIN), why it is specified only up to 150mA?

Part Number: TPS763

Hi team,

I noted this part has a current limit level of >0.5A, while it is only specified at up to 150mA. I do not why. My customer's ckt drinks only tens of mA in most of operating time. But in some very short duration they need up to 300mA out. I am not sure if this part surrport this kind of application? They are currently using SPX3819, can TPS763 replace SPX3819?

Thank you,

John

  • Hi John,
The TPS763xx features internal current limiting and thermal protection features, during normal operation, the device limits output current to approximately 800 mA, when current limiting engages, the output voltage scales back linearly until the over current condition ends.
