bq40z60: bq40z60 with Lithium Iron Phosphate cells (LiFePO4)

Part Number: BQ40Z60

The data sheet for the bq40z60 Programmable Battery Management Unit IC says that it works with Lithium Polymer and Lithium Ion cells but does not mention LiFePO4 cells.

The data sheet is dated 2014 and LiFePO4 cells were readily  available before then so I'm not sure why LiFePO4 were not mentioned in the data sheet unless it was intentional, but don't understand why.

Does the BQ40Z60 work with LiFePO4 cells?

  • HI Kenneth.

bq40z60 works with lithium iron phosphate cells. LFP are a type of lithium ion batteries. If you search through the TRM of the device, you will see the LFP_relax flag that accounts for LFP long relax time after charge.

    thanks
