BQ78350-R1: Battery Management - Gas Gauge Forum

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940, GPCCEDV

Hello to Ti team ,

   I  am  working  now with bq78350-r1 & bq7694001 , my questions are.

1. Is it necessary to connect cells to AFE in order : 1. 1N    2. 1P    3. 2P   ...... ?

2. How I can influence to reduce max error from 100% to 1% ? , Is there any tutorial about it .and any risk produce battery with max error 100% ?

3. Is it necessary use GPCPAckager for high accuracy ? , If i don't have time to prepare this 6 flog files what should be estimated error in  RC ?

4. I  use chemistry with is out of chem list : ICR18650-26JM , can you please advice me with chemistry use instead with close parameters .

5. I can't find Gauge Enable option like  in 40z50 ,20z655 , How i enable Gauge ( start Algorithm and lifetime logging) ?

Thanks in advance

Electronics Design Engineer.

  • hi Alex
1, Yes, that is the preferable method of connection. See the user guide for the bq76940.
    2. You will need to configure your gauge using GPCCEDV. You will need the 6 files to submit to GPCCEDV to obtain the CEDV coefficients. That is the only way max error will go to 1%.
    3. What you neeed is GPCCEDV. It has the instructions onthe steps to perfom the experiment to obtain the 6 log files. GPC packager just facilitates submitting your files to GPCCEDV.
    4. This device doesn't require a chem id like our impedance track gauges. It uses CEDV algortihm
    5. There is no IT enable on this device because it uses the CEDV algorithm. pls see app note attached. www.ti.com/.../slua726

  • Onyx thanks you very much for your quick response ,

I want ask you again about par 1 : in guide 76940 , SLUSBK2G there is logo on the top - Random Cell Connection Tolerant !

What does it mean for 7694001 Random Cell Connection Tolerant ?

  • Hi Alex,
It means even if you do not connect the cells in sequence the chip should be able to handle that. But if you have control over the process, the preference would be to connect in sequence.

    thanks
