BQ24296: 20% Charging Current Mode

Part Number: BQ24296

When the device is in FORCE_20PCT mode(REG02(0) = 1):

1. Is the accuracy of the charging current -28% +72% as shown on page 8 of the datasheet?

2. The datasheet suggests to turn charge termination off when in this mode. Why?

  • Hey Thuan,

    1) At such low charging currents as that test limit (104mA), yes you can see charging current anywhere in that range.

    2) Termination currents are very low. FORCE_20PCT does not affect termination current threshold, meaning only the charge and precharge currents are affect. So if you FORCE_20PCT of 2A, and ITERM is 128mA, as soon as the charger runs in CV mode the charge profile, it will terminate immediately. The termination comparator will kick in because it just transitions from a lower current in CC mode.
