BQ24192: bq24192

Part Number: BQ24192
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25606

Hello.

I'm using the BQ24192 as as a charger in my system design. Input source is an adapter 4.5-17V (no USB).

my quesion:

If my HOST is in-active (no I2C COM.), and i want to charge my batery without turnnig my system ON, what is the default charge current (is it 256mA?)
and how can configure it to highest current limit input (again, without I2C control).

Thank you.

  • Hello,

At default, the charge current on the bq24192 is set to 2048mA.
Since this is an I2C control register to configure charge current, this setting needs to be configured using an I2C host.

    Two recommendations/questions:

    1. Why must the host be inactive during power-up/charge? When the adapter is connected the VSYS will come up, and there is no way to disable this. You can utilize this VSYS to enable your host and configure the bq on start-up.

    2. If the host must be inactive for some reason and you want to enable full rate charging at that point, you may instead want to look into our standalone charger, bq25606.
