Starterware/BQ25703A: How to use it?

Part Number: BQ25703A

Tool/software: Starterware

I have a few questions about BQ25703A:

1) As soon as CHRG_OK reaches high level I write ChargeCurrentRegister(): 0x0400 (1024mA).
My battery starts to charge, but the charging stops soon. If I reconnect the adapter, the charging will continue for a while. How do I fix it?

2) Is it possible not to record each time "ChargeCurrentRegister" when the adapter is turned on?

3) How can I track the battery shutdown?

4) I need to see the percentage of the battery charge, how can I find out that? Registers are not updated during the charging process

  • bq25703A has a watch dog timer. If you don't want to keep updating the charger current and voltage, please disable the watch dog timer.

"ChargeCurrentRegister" has to be re-written when the adapter is turned on.

What do you mean the battery shutdown? If the battery pack's input FET is off, charger doesn't know the battery is disconnected or just the battery pack's input FET off.

"I need to see the percentage of the battery charge, how can I find out that?" bq25703A is a charger IC. For the percentage of the battery charge, you need to check the gauge IC or post another post on gauge forum.

  • I can read the ADC on the battery only during the charge, can I somehow get it when the adapter is removed?
  • Please disable low power mode at battery only.
