BQ40Z60: bqStudio crashing when programming and executing srec file

Hi Chuchen,
Can you verify the following:
1. what version of bqstudio is being used.
2. What i2c adapter is he using? ev2300 or ev2400?
3. what firmware version is on the adapter which he is using?
4. where did he obtain his srec from? ti.com? extracted from a new board? a golden image?
5. Does he have enough bat voltage to keep his IC powered on? What is the voltage of his stack?]

Hello Onyx,

1. BQ studio version - 1.3.72
2. Using EV2400
3. FW of EV2400 - 0.18
4. srec file was updated from the board that completed learning cycle.
5. Yes, Battery voltage 13.6V (4S) configuration.

Can you uninstall your current version of bqstudio and try installing v1.3.54.1  which is also on the product folder of bqstudio so we see if that makes a difference

Your case is puzzling. Can you try on a different computer? if that fails, then i will have to bring it to the attention of our tools engineers.

David Maxwell had been supporting Prashanth directly but has been out of office. Can you help answer this question: "Is it recommended to perform charging and discharging cycles at the production line? or should the golden file be enough?"

Thanks for your fast reply. The above issue still persists. As mentioned earlier, the problem vanishes once the board has been programmed. I will try on a new batch of boards and get back to you.

Also, I am looking into BQProduction + BQMtester to speed up the programming and calibration process and to reduce human error.  But, I'm facing difficulty setting up. It would be really helpful if you can look into the below items and share your knowledge.

1. I am using Advanced BQMtester + EV2300 + BQProduction software - Is this correct?, what is the difference between BQMtester and Advanced BQMTester?

2. Should EV2300 driver be updated? If yes, where to find the official software release? - I am using windows 10, 64 bit system. I always get an error while updating the drivers.

3. Once connections have been made, as per Thomas Cosby's presentation (attached below). I get error code 772 (no acknowledge) and 9999 (Target device version returned does not match the target bqz)

1.Advance BqMTester is just the next gen of bqMtester. It doesn't support some older devices.

2.Ev2300 needs to be updatedd to v3.1r or 3.1m

3. you need need to make sure you ave the correct bqz in the bqproduction folder and bqstudio folder as well. Make sure your bq78350 has the latest firmware installed .

1. Does Advanced BQMtester support BQ40Z60?

3.  I believe I have the correct bqz selected in BQProduction. Please see the attached image. Also, I never selected bqz file in BQ studio, because it gets automatically detected. 

Is there anything else that I am missing?

HI Prashanth,
This will require some additional digging into and I don't have boards to test this myself. Since you are already working offline with an apps engineer from TI who directly supports this part, they would have to verify on their boards if the bq40z60 does work with the advanced bqMtester.

I would also try to check to see if i can lay my hands on a board sometime in the middle of next week if i get the chance to see if i can be of help in case the designated apps engineer is unable to get to this.

It is really hard at this time due to limited bandwidth. . I don't have a board as those are not one of the devices I own apps support for, but i am checking to with the other apps engineers to see who has both boards.

Can you try the other 1.3.54 version of bqstudio.
I will try programming my board tomorrow using multiple systems as well. Pls drop a note here tomorrow if you are still having issues.
