TPS54531: Failure of Feedback resistor on the O/P of the switcher

Hi,

In one of our assembly line on 2 of the boards one of the Feddback Resistor was not mounted when using the TPS54231 from 25V to 5.9V conversion mode. Due to this the 25V came at the o/p of the switcher and damaged the subsequent sections. Please suggest what precaution can be taken in the design to avoid such damages.

Hi,

From my opinion there's no good method to protect this damage by Tps54231 itself, because IC gets Vout information from feedback pin.

OK I Agree.

In general do you have any suggestion to put a protective circuit at the O/P of the switchers to ensure that the Input voltage do not exceed the O/P which gets forwarded to the next stages due to either Non mounting of the FB Resistor OR failure of the FB Resistor?
