BQ27510: Counting Partial Charge/Discharge Cycles

You will need to modify your cc threshold. This is what the gauge uses to increase the cycle count.

Hello Onyx, What do you suggest the cc threshold be set to? 80%, 70%?

That is for you to decide. You need to analyse the battery cycles and the degradation discharging to what ever limit it is you guys are using as you wouldn't want to be replacing a healthy battery.

I don't see any description for cc threshold in the Datasheet. Can you point to the technical reference manual you mentioned above? Say, if you set it to 80%, does that mean that if the battery is charged to 80% and discharged by 80% that it will count that pair as 1 cycle?

Our cell specs max charge of 4.2V at 50mA taper with 700mA-Hr capacity. However, in our application, we're only charging it to 4.1V. Do we set the gauge full charge voltage parameter to 4.2V or 4.1V ? Also, during our learn cycle, do we charge it to 4.1V or 4.2V? What capacity should be put in the gauge parameters? Same question about taper current

For the learning cycle, you will need to charge to 4.2V and taper to 50mA. This is to be able to meet the qmax update criteria of 90% of design capacity passed charge. After you are done with the learning cycle, then you will you can adjust your charging voltage to 4.1V. The design capacity should be the capacity stated in the cell data sheet. Taper current can be any value from C/10 to C/20.

What voltage should I set the nominal charging voltage parameter in bq studio to?

What would happen if i keep the max charge voltage at 4.2V but our charger only charges it to 4.1V? How is this different than changing it to 4.1V after the learn cycle is done with 4.2V?
