TPS54260: How to Power Cellular Modems

Part Number: TPS54260

Dear TI Community

I have a request for a price driven customer project.
Does TI provide a solution for powering cellular modems? So output voltage of 3.8V with 3A peak currents and excellent RF performance based on a input voltage of 5V for instance.

Micrel does have a very nice application note for this:
ww1.microchip.com/.../ANLPS300.pdf

There they promote the MIC38300 as a Buck-LDO combination.

From TI I only found a application note from 2010 based on the TSP54260:
www.ti.com/.../slva412.pdf

Is there a new solution from TI power solutions for such purpose? Do you know any reference designs or application notes from active devices? Especially the excellent RF performance make the design with a simple buck converter complicated.

Thank you already for your answer.

Felix

  • Hi ,

If you are looking for Wide input voltage (5V- 36V ) and low noise solution , then i will propose LM53635 . It switches at 2MHz , good dropout performance , good EMI performance ( owing to its Package , Spread Spectrum options and pinout ) as well as good Load transient performance .
