BQ34Z100-G1: BQ34z100-g1. ChemID selection with GPC

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400

Hi,

I am using the BQ34z100-g1 to estimate SoC of an 8s LiFePO4. I am not using a battery of the TI  database so I need to know which of them is the best chemical ID for my battery. To know it I want to use the GPC but I have some doubts about it

I have read the SLVA725 document but viewing the examples it seems to be made for Li-Ion batteries.

1. As I am using LiFePO4 (where relaxing times are longer that Li-Ion) should I use the relaxing times indicates in the document (2 hours after charge and 5 hours after discharge)? Or should I let them longer times?

2. I have had sometimes problems with BQ Studio logging data for long times. After finishing the log when I tried to save the file it was impossible. Have you heard other people with the same problem? Is this issue fixed?

Thank you very much in advance,

  • HI Gorka,
    1. I believe the 2 hours should still be fine for chem id identification, however, having longer relaxation periods after charge wouldn't prevent the tool from working.
    3. Are you using ev2300 or ev2400. What firwmare version is on whichever adapter you are using? Also, What bqstudio version are you using? v1.3.54.1?

    thanks
    Onyx
  • Hi Onyx,

    1. I am using EV2400 and bqStudio 1.3.54.1

    2. Today I was doing the first part of the test (charging the battery) and again gives me the same problem. After 3 hours of logging I wanted to save the file but was not possible. This is very frustrating.

    3. Do you have any other application to log this test?

    Thank you,
  • Hi Gorka,
I understand your frustration with the tool. Can you confirm you have version 0.18 firmware on the ev2400? if no, can you update the firmware version using the link below

    www.ti.com/.../sluc578

If problem persists, can you try a different computer. What version of windows are you using btw?

    thanks
    Onyx
  • Hi Onyx,

I had v0.05 version of EV2400. I have updated to version 0.18 nad I will try to do test.

    I will inform you.

    Thanks,
