BQ24133: Unable to read Charge Status

Part Number: BQ24133
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP4397

Hi,

We are using "BQ24133RGYR" as per PMP4397 Reference Design. However we need to give charger connection status to the circuit at LOAD. The issue we are facing is that there are 3 GNDs in the System. These are:

1. GND_BATT
2. GND
3. Pin-1 of J1

The circuit at load is referenced to GND_BATT, while the CHGSTATUS (STAT Pin) is referenced to GND. Due to the different GND references, the CHGSTATUS (STAT Pin) is not being read correctly by the circuit connected to LOAD. Please suggest a resolution for the same.

  • Hi Balaji,

Are all the grounds in your system connected together somewhere in the design? They should be tied using a net-tie if you don't want these GNDs to create some signal interference with each other. By tying them together, the DC reference should be good enough to measure a high or a low at the STAT pin.

    Regards,
    Steven
