LM5118: connection of RAMP pin

Part Number: LM5118

Hi,

in the DS is described how to connect the RAMP pin of LM5118 with a capacitor to GND.

When doing a Webench Design the pin is connect by a resistor to VCC.

Do we have a explanation when connect to VCC or only with a capacitor to GND ?

Many Thanks

Best wishes,

Olrik

  • Hi Olrik,

The resistor from VCC to RAMP is added to increase the slope compensation. Increasing the slope compensation will help minimize sub-harmonic oscillation at high duty cycle conditions and is suggested for higher output voltage designs with the LM5118.

    Thanks,
