24V Lead Acid application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24450

Hello,

I am working on a motor application where I am using two 12V Lead Acid Batteries in series to get the necessary motor voltage.  My question is there an IC or recommendation that can charge the 24V system as it is or do I need an IC per battery to charge them each and then combine them in the system to get the 24V I require?  I see there are IC's that are capable or more than 28V (which would be required to charge a 24V system) so I guess it's just picking the right IC and using it correctly.

Thoughts?
