BQ40Z60: Conditions for CV-charging

Hi,

I'm developing a design with 4 Li-Ion Cells and the BQ40Z60 as charger/gauge.

The charging-process is working in constant current mode (CC) but when the battery voltage reaches the "Standard Temp Charging Voltage" of 4100mV (per Cell) the charging continues in CC-mode.

In the manual I can't find the conditions at which the device changes to Constant Voltage mode (CV).

Hi Felix
What charging current and voltage did you configure the charger portion of the device for. The charger portion not the gauge portion. For further questions on our gauges, always endeavor to attach your log and gg files as this will allow us address your questions quicker.

Hi Onyx,

I made a measurement today and logged the data. I expectet the charger to stop at 4 cells * 4,1V = 16,4V.

But the charging threshold seemed to be at 16,8V and not 16,4V. Before reaching 16,8 V the current decreased slowly.

I wanted to attached the log log file and gg-file but it doesn't work, I get an error-message

Hi Felix
Does the data sheet state the cells are 4.1V cells or 4.2V? I don't believe charging to 4.2V will damage the cells.
