Compiler/LM3414HV: Compiler/LM3414HV

Part Number: LM3414HV

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Hello everyone

  Help me to slove my problem, i am using LM3414HV IC to drive 2 LEDs Light at 12V DC with a IADJ = 350mA ,  here in my project i am using a PWM chip to give dimmimg effect to led slim light and this led light is drive by IC LM3414HV , now my problem is that when i put the LM3414HV DIM pin on GND (0% Duty cycle -PWM) , i have the 2 LEDs Light ON (still lighting a little bite) or i would like to have LEDs Light get completely OFF.

Regards

Blaise

  • Hello Blaise,

    The switch, even when off, will always have some amount of leakage (see the spec ILX-OFF in the EC table). At 12V it is likely small, maybe a couple of uA, but it is enough that it can still be seen in some LEDs. The common way to fix that is to put some resistance in parallel with the LED string to shunt this current away from the LEDs so that they do not glow. You would have to experiment with the value since the exact leakage current is unknown, but it should be a fairly high value resistor (probably 500k to 2M) that will not affect operation otherwise, it will just take care of the leakage current in the OFF state.
