Survey Wide Input Range LDO for Automotive

Hi Team,

Could you help provide can compare TS LDO devise? competitor has wide input range from -18VDC to 60VDC.

Looks TI suitable solution is LM317 and TPS7A19. I think TI parts need to add TVS to protect leakage current cause negative voltage, right?

    Hi Kuo,

    Yes LM317 and TPS7A19 may be able to fit an application similar to TS2937; however, if you provide specifics about the application we will be better able to help you select the correct LDO to fit your needs. You are correct that should Vin go below GND, there is the potential for damage to the LDO. Using an external diode that will trigger before -0.3 V can protect the LDO in this condition.

    Hi John,

    Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with diodes to recommend a specific part number. You may want to work with a vendor who sells diodes to select a diode that can handle your leakage current and will trigger before -0.3 V.
