UCC256301: The OCP of TIDA-01494

Part Number: UCC256301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01494

Hi Sir,

Form the document of TIDA-01494, it could dlivers 20A continuous current and up to 30A peak current for 3 seconds.

But the deley time of OCP3 level is only 50ms, how this design can do 3 seconds peak current protection?

How to calculate it?   Thank you very much.

  • Hi,

This design is for industrial power supply, it is a feature to handle peak power for 3s. This is achieved by hardware design.
30A output current is still under OCP3 threshold, OCP3 cannot be triggerred.

    regards,
    Yunsheng
  • Hi Yunsheng,

If all those 3 OCP points are higher then 30A, this means I need to make sure the load current will decrease from 30A to 20A within 3 seconds, or PUS will be in high damage risk, am I right?
  • HI,

The LLC tank is designed to deliver 30 A without triggering OCP. But the board is designed to handle 20A continuous and 30 A for 3 second due to thermal considerations. Ideally, a small MCU circuit is connected through connector J1, which will monitor the load current. If the load current exceeds 20 A for 3 seconds, it will use the PBOOST pin to set the secondary side current limit to 20A.
