LMZ35003: Maximum allowable Slow Start Capacitance

Hello support team,

 

Is there any limitation to add capacitance to the SS/TR terminal?

d/s shows the max value is 22uF but my customer prefer to add 100uF to get very slow startup. Is it ok for LMZ35003?

 

If there is limitation for the capacitance value, I would like to know why and the maximum allowable capacitance.

    Hi Izumi Maruyama,

    There is no particular maximum limitation to the external capacitance of the slow-start pin. Is there a reason why the customer has to have a very slow startup? What is their intended startup time for Vout to regulate to its set voltage?

    One thing to keep in mind is that if the LMZ35003 device encounters a fault condition and resets, the external capacitance on the SS pin will have to completely discharge. With larger capacitance, it will take longer for the capacitors to discharge.
