TPS3838: Operating Junction Temperature Range

Part Number: TPS3838

Does anybody know what the operating junction temperature (Tj) range is for the TPS3838?

Thanks,

Rob

  • Rob,

As a result of the low dissipated power in this device, it is assumed that Tj = Ta.

    For TPS3838, Tj = Ta = -40C to +85C
    For TPS3838-Q1, Tj = Ta = -40C to +125C

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

  • Hi Michael,

So here is the issue. We are using the TPS3838-Q1 (specifically TPS3838L30QDBVRQ1) which has now gone EOL. We use these on conduction cooled cards, where the board temperature in the location of the TPS3838 can reach +90C. Are you telling me I can not substitute the TPS3838 for the TPS3838-Q1?

If so, what part do you recommend I use in place of the TPS3838-Q1?

    Regards,
    Rob
  • Rob,

What are the key care-abouts? Do you need the 3.0V threshold? Do you need the open-drain output type or the programmable delay? Is low Iq a requirement? How many units will be needed for this application? Please provide a little more info regarding the application and business opportunity size so I can provide the best options moving forward. Feel free to email me directly at michaeldesando@ti.com Thanks!

  • I’ll replace the TPS3838L30QDBVRQ1 (TPS3838-Q1) with the TPS3808G30DBVT as the data sheet shows an operating junction temperature of -40C to +125C.
