TPS65910: VRTC (LDO) output rise time is too slow

Part Number: TPS65910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Custom board of AM3352 is using TPS65910A3A1 for PMIC.

VRTC of the PMIC is connected to VDDS_RTC of AM3352.

When connecting power cable, they checked the rise time of VDDS_RTC (0V -> 1.8V).

The rising time is around 3ms from 0V to 1.8V.

It seems that the rising time is too slow, is it right?

Thanks and regards,

Hayden

  • Hi Hayden,

Thanks for reaching out to us. The datasheet for the tps65910x states a typical turn on time for VRTC (LDO) at 2.2ms. For IOUT=0, VIN rising from 0 up to 3.6 V, at VOUT=0.1 V up to VOUTmin.

If this doesn't solve your problem yet, can you clarify under what test conditions have you measured 3ms?

    Thank you for using E2E.

    Sincerely,

    Kevin den Toom

  • Hi Hayden,

Please note that the TPS65910A3A1 does not support connection of PMIC VRTC to VDDS_RTC of AM3352. The TPS65910A31A1, which has the VRTC in full power mode after NRESPWRON is released and is intended for use in this case. Please see the TPS65910Ax User's Guide for AM335x Processors for more details. The VRTC should still not be connected to anything that would pull more than 100 uA prior to NRESPWRON release. www.ti.com/.../swcu093
