BQ20Z655-R1: Charge Current parameter drops to 0 at the end of charge .

Part Number: BQ20Z655-R1

Hello to Ti team ,

I have log file attached to this mail with charge current parameter drops to 0 at the end of charge period (when bq updates its FCC and RC) .

In technical reference  i see the only parameter which can change this parameter is temperature and all the parameters in all temperatures ranges i configured 1700mA , log file attached .

Why Charge current parameter updates at the end of charge period ?bq20z655-r1_Charge_current_drop_0.xlsx

  • Hi Alexander

The SOC got to 100% indicating a fully charged battery based on your settings, so the gauge sets the charging current to 0 to avoid overcharging the battery.

    thanks

  • Hello Onyx , thanks for your response .

I have some more questions about this issue ,

    1. so the gauge sets the charging current to 0 to avoid overcharging the battery. --> Is it possible configure do not set Charging current to 0 when SOC got 100% . ( I didn't find explanation about it Technical reference ) .
    2. o the gauge sets the charging current to 0 to avoid overcharging the battery. --> When charge current register should back to original value? (which conduction should be).
    3. Does Registers Charge Current and charge Voltage Affected from Charge error flags ( CMTO,OCHGI,.... ) ?
    4. I found only technical reference for bq20z655 , Does technical reference for bq20z655-r1 exist ?

  • Hi Alex,

    1. No. I don't see why you would want to overcharge your battery. If you want to continue charging the battery, then your smart charger will have to ignore the commands from the gauge or not read the charging voltage and current from the gauge.
    3. See the TRM.
    4. You can use that of the z655 for the R1.
    thanks
