TPS61021A: fail-safe design

Hello.

Please teach me about fail-safe design of TPS61021A and TPS610981.

If it fails in the short mode, will the current limiter be applied and will the voltage shut down?
Does it take a power-on reset at restart?

What kind of fail do you mean? TPS61021A has output short protection, so when output short, Vo drop to 0. But the IC still alive, it will not failed.

Do you mean the IC is burned?

TPS61021A can automatically return after short released.
TPS610981 can't, TPS610981 will damage if the output is shorted. For more question about TPS610981, please open a new post on it.
