BQ34Z100-G1: Learned Status

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Are Bit 1 and Bit 0 of Learned Status reversed on Page 20 of the manual (SLUSBZ5B)?  It states:

QMax (Bit 3): QMax updates in the field.

0 = QMax has not been updated in the field.
1 = QMax updated in the field.

ITEN (Bit 2): IT enable

0 = IT is disabled.
1 = IT is enabled.

CF1, CF0 (Bit 1–0): QMax Status

0,0 = Battery is OK.
0,1 = QMax is first updated in the learning cycle.

Or are Bit 1-0 for Qmax Status displaying the least significant bit first?  I typically get 0x02 before IT Enable and 0x06 after IT Enable.

With regards to Bit 3, what is considered "updated in the field".  Is this updated after IT Enable, after being Sealed???

What would the normal progression be for Learned Status?

  • Hi Matt,
    an unlearned pack will have update status of 00. If it has been enabled on an unlearned pack it will have update status of 04. During the learning cycle, after qmax has been updated, update status will be 05. After learning has completed update status will be 06, indicating qmax has learned and resistance tables have been updated. The customer is then required to manually change update status to 02, indicating, qmax and ra tables have updated but IT is disabled. When you sent the IT enable command, update status will automaticaly go to 06 from 02 indicating qmax and ra are already learned and IT is enabled.
    The purpose set update status to 02 is to prevent lifetime updates during or right after programming the gauge. lifetime updates will only become active after IT has been enabled. I hope this helps.

    thanks
    Onyx
