TPS543C20: Load Transient

Hi,

Could you tell me the information about TPS543C20?

Is there the data on load transient characteristics under the following conditions when using TPS543C20EVM-869?

【condition】

Vin: 10 V or 12 V

Vout: 0.95 V or 1.05 V
Iout: 50A to 60A  (the slew rate is 16 A/us.)

Also, our custormer's request is that the load transient falls within ± 20 mV.

What is the value of Cout to achieve this?

  • There is a similar transient in the EVM users guide of 15 A to 25 A, the same 1A step. The voltage variation is about +/- 42 mV. The output capacitance is 2 x 330 uF + 2 x 100 uF. To reach +/- 20 mV, you will most likely need a little more than double that amount. I'll check to see if we have any additional data.

    There is a userguide for TPS543C20EVM-869 (www.ti.com/.../sluubl7.pdf). It has the load transient waveform.
    To achieve +/- 20mV specification, there are other factors to consider: inductance, efficiency, switching frequency...
    The datasheet also has equations to calculate the Cout for 1-PH. For 2-PH, the inductance will be half.
    You can also contact the local FAE to help to design too.
