BQ51050B: BQ51050B Charge Indication

Part Number: BQ51050B

There was a similar question asked in the Wireless Power Forum but I am not able to post this there.

I am using a BQ51050B and I want to have a red LED for charging and green LED for charge complete.

Does the CHG output go tristate when the charge terminates?  If so, I believe I can tie the red LED to the CHG and RECT and invert the CHG output with a MOSFET and have the MOSFET drive the green LED from the RECT rail.  If the device is not on a charger I assume the RECT rail will be at 0 volts.

  • The CHG output is Open-Drain and will be low during charging, other conditions will be open or high impedance.
RECT will have voltage present during charging but when charge is complete the bq51050B will turn off the TX with End Power Transfer (EPT) command and RECT voltage will go low.
Source of power to drive the LED during charge complete will be a problem.
