BQ24295: SYS pin abnormal output

Part Number: BQ24295

Dear TI member,

I use TI BQ24295 EVM (BQ24295EVM-549) to test.

Condition: No Battery, use DC Electronic Load and connect to sys pin, set load = 0.4A, turn on.

After providing the 5V to VBUS, VSYS will power on then power off, and power on afterward.

BUT sys pin always is 1.9V~2V,instead of normal voltage 3.6V.

The IOUT peak current just only 0.5A, I think not reach the current limit protection.

Does it touch others protection functions?

  • Julian,

Please refer to page 19 of the bq24295 datasheet. Your observation is related to the soft start. When the system is below 2.2 V, the input current limit is forced to 100mA. After the system rises above 2.2 V, the charger device sets the input current limit set by the lower value between register and ILIM pin. You want to apply the 0.4A load after the VSYS ramps up to the minimum system voltage.

    Thanks,

    Eric
  • Dear Eric,

    Thanks a lot!
