Hi,

I'm looking for Passive and Active balancing Battery Management System(BMS) Evaluation Module.
There's one TI's product i.e. EM1402 Evaluation Module for active balancing but does not comes with software GUI.

Does it comes with the software GUI as same as the TI product passive balancing Evaluation Module i.e. TI product i.e. bq76PL455EVM

Hi Jenny,

We do not have a GUI to directly control the EMB chipset, just the pl455. We do have reference code available on the EM1402 page.

The EMB chipset that controls the active balancing is driven by a SPI engine, which is bit-banged through the pl455 GPIO pins. An MCU could be used, alternatively.

Thanks for your reply.

Understand that active is better that the passive balancing for the battery cells.

Can check any Evaluation Module from TI’s product that are active balancing mode & come with the GUI software, thanks

Hi Jenny,

The EMB1428/EMB1499 is the only active balancing solution we offer. There is a TIDM available that emulates a second UART port on the TMS570LS04X to control the ACB solution, but many user's have troubles implementing it due to the complexity: www.ti.com/.../TIDM-TMS570BMS
