TL783: quiescent current

Part Number: TL783

Hi Team,

could you help to check the quiescent current of TL783? we need it to calculate the power consumption, thanks!

Best Regards

Wiky

  • Hi Wiky,

As this is a 3 terminal regulator with an adjust pin with no GND pin there is not a defined quiescent current. The quiescent current will vary in each application this regulator is placed in.

The only way to measure quiescent current is to hook up the resistors required for the proper output voltage and then measure the current through the GND that is being used as the resistor reference. One thing to keep in mind is that for an accurate output voltage you will want 100 times the current that is going into the ADJ pin going through the resistor divider. This means there will be a minimum of 1.2 mA of GND current to ensure proper accuracy. There is also a 15mA minimum load requirement to ensure proper regulation. This can be satisified by the load or the FB resistors, but must be present to maintain regulation.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Regards,
    Mark
