TPS7A8001: Vdo test condition

Guru 20090 points

Part Number: TPS7A8001

Hello,

In the datasheet, the Vdo Test condition is " VOUT + 0.5 V ≤ VIN ≤ 6.5 V, VIN ≥ 2.2 V, 250 mV IOUT = 500 mA," and Vdo=250mV.
Is this mean that the Vdo is 500mV? How to measure this maximum Vdo value?  I think that the VOUT+0.5 is larger than Vdo(max).

Our customer using this device on the conditions of Vin=3.3V, Vout=2.9V, Iout=100mA.
In this case, the Vdo=250mV is guaranteed?

Ryuji

  • Hi Ryuji,

In this test condition the VIN is set 500mV above the output voltage and then the FB node is set to GND. The difference between the input and the output is then measured and this is what they are calling Vdo. The reason they are using 500mV above the output voltage is because that is the overarching condition in the EC table for all other conditions.

Regarding your application going from 3.3 to 2.9V at 100mA should be fine.

    Best Regards,
