CCS/TPS62180EVM-581: About Phase-Shifted Operation

Part Number: TPS62180EVM-581

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi Team,

I have a question.

Datasheet 8.4.5 Phase - Shifted Operation has the following description.
"In PWM mode, the TPS 6218x devices run with a fixed delay of typically 250 ns between the phases."

But,
Where I measured with EVM,
It is not operating with a fixed delay of 250 ns.

Attached a waveform.
Is this correct behavior?
Why is it not operating with a fixed delay of 250 ns?

VIN = 9.14 V
VOUT = 3.3 V
IOUT = 1.5 A
EVM: Default Condition

Yellow=VOUT

Blue=SW1

Red=SW2

Best Regards,

  • Hello Watanabe-san,

    on your scope plot I can see a delay between the SW1 and SW2, however for exact measurement please use a higher resolution of the time scale and increase the bandwith of the scope. Please note that the expected delay of 250ns is a typical value in the data sheet.
    Benefit of such a delay / phase shift is that input peak current is reduced and output voltage ripple is kept low.

    Best regards,
