Hi,

The customer is evaluating TPS23841.

There is a note on the datasheet Table7 (highlighted with yellow bar below) which is about port enable/disable registers. It has been observed that ports cannot be configured when the register is set. The customer wants to use the IC on SAM mode and enable/disable the ports when needed.

Could you please give more information regarding this implementation? (as mentioned on datasheet below, this information can be given by factory)

By the way, this socket is very old and we actually do not recommend it.
You can check TPS23861 which is our hero product. It will satisfy your demand as well.

Hi Jack,
I have seen that errata, however it seems that it is for TPS2384.
Could you please confirm if the errata covers TPS23841, too?

The errata covers TPS23841 too.

So do you use ALTB? You can use ALTA to check whether it works.

Hi Jack,
The errata is not about our problem completely. As far as I understand, it says a problem can occur when you try to enable the port after disabling it.
The customer is trying to disable one of the ports and he hasn't got succeed yet.
I will appreciate if you advise how to control ports with SAM mode.

Hi Mete,

How about using ALTA to test? Is there any update?

1. Would you please read the Common Read register (Register Select address = 0000) to check the chip version? how about the D3 D2 result?

2. Writing the All Ports Disable bit D1 of Common Control Write register (Register Select address = 0001b) to a logic 1 to check whether the port can be disabled?

3. You mean that only one port can't be disabled, how about others?
