BQ24450: How Do We Obtain Deep Recovery (Pre-Charge) Mode Status

Part Number: BQ24450

At or above Vth, the Batt Charger enters bulk Charge mode.  Below Vth, the battery is in Deep Recovery mode and to prevent overheating, outgasing, etc, a Pre-Charge is applied to the battery from pin 11.  I've attempted to use the Pre-Charge output to use to provide status of this mode, but this pin(11) always seems to be "hot".

So, what other pin or combination of pins could be used to tell me/us that the charger is in this deep recovery mode?

Best regards,
Dave

  • The device does not have a logic pin than brings out a pre-charge signal.
Pin 11 could be used but additional circuit would be required to compare voltage at the pin to battery voltage. In pre-charge it will be 2V above battery voltage, in bulk charge it will be equal to the battery voltage.
