BQ25896: BQ25896 termintaion current current accuracy question

Part Number: BQ25896

Dear TI member

My custmoer set BQ25896 termination current to 128mA and Charge done voltage to 4.352V.

For now their termination current measurement arround 165mA~175mA for every board.

If we calculate the accuracy, 165/128=+28%, 175/128=+36%, the value seems larger then datasheet 256mA termination current +/-20% range.

I had check their test method, it seems OK and other project also use this method to test and had no this issue.

And I also check their reg setting, they don't use IRCOMP function, so I have no idea where is the root cause for this.

Please help check the 128mA termination current accuracy range should be around what range.

Or give me some advice where to check their system.

Thank you

BR

Bruce

  • Bruce,

I have asked the test team to pull the ITERM characterization data.  ITERM at 128mA will have worse accuracy than 256mA.  What is the ICHARGE setting?  If the customer changes their ICHRG setting to either above or below 1344mA, does the accuracy change?  If not, it is a measurement issue.

  • Hi Jeff
    Thanks for your professional response!
THeir ICHARGE setting is 1D(1024+512+256+64=1856mA), I will ask them for test.
And I know the reason for 1344mA hogh/low, I can explan to customer.
I will reply the test result, thanks.

  • Hi Jeff

Customer had done test and result is like what you say. They use 1A charge current and termination current can done at 128mA around.
But for now they want to know the range of the termination current if they set charge current to 1856mA.
Could you please help provide the range of it?
    Thank you so much!
