TPS22916: (TPS22916CL) - Smart-ON Pull Down feature behavior for Active Low version

Hello,

In the TPS22916 datasheet, the Smart-ON Pull Down functionality seems to be written with respect to the Active High devices only. Per Table 3, if the Smart-ON Pull Down was connected with VON <= VIL, then it would be active during normal operation, opposite of the behavior for the Active High versions.

So for TPS22916CL, is the Smart-ON actually a Pull-Up and the reverse of Table 3, to keep the load switch off on power-up until the Active Low signal is asserted?

Hi Jonathan,

The table is correct for all device variants including the CL version.

For CL, if the GPIO is floating when VIN ramps up, the pull down will cause the device to enable by default.

Hi Alek,

Thanks for the quick reply and clarification. I've got a pull-up in my MCU that will keep the TPS22916CL off when power is first applied, so I should be in good shape.
